Octopia

Below is the link for the Final Octopia Map for 2014/15/16.

The .zip file is large and will require around 20GB of space to extract the world. No plugin or server information is included. @thomas9078 very kindly put together a PDF document of the last known locations of towns and so this could be useful to you.


While going through old files from the server, I also came across an old map for 2013/14, the link for which is below. There is no co-ordinates file for this world unfortunately, so you will need to explore by yourself if you download it.


Once again I hope you all enjoyed your time on Octopia and I hope these maps will allow you to enjoy your creations even more.

Just to remind players that the Octopia Towny server will be closing later today at 7pm GMT. Do join us on teamspeak and the server from 6.30pm GMT as we bid farewell to the server.

Be sure to note down any co-ordinates if you want to find a particular build when the world is uploaded, it is highly unlikely you would find it otherwise.

A post will follow in the next day or so regarding the world upload and a final few words from me.

Dear Players,

You may have noticed recently that myself and the other Owners have not been on the server, we have all started studying full-time for degrees at university. We can no longer give the time we once could to Octopia.

From January 10th at 7pm GMT, Octopia will be powered down for the last time. It is with a heavy heart that I announce this, but for us as Owners, there isn't another way we can continue running the server. We have enjoyed every moment of running Octopia for the almost 4 years it has been online. We have made friends and will leave with great memories, and hope that you will as well. We want to close Octopia down on our own terms, instead of being forced to by financial reasons further down the road.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the Staff members we have had since Octopia started. Without them, Octopia simply wouldn't be able to function. I also want to thank the countless players who have donated to the server - without you we wouldn't...

Maintenance has been scheduled on the server on Monday (3rd August) which means that between around 09:00 until 20:00 the server and website will be unavailable.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to you, but it will ensure that the server performs optimally for months to come.

To ensure that the hardware and software Octopia runs on is always in top form, I have to conduct maintenance every now and then. Normally I am able to schedule this during a quiet period and is quick.

The current dedicated server we are using needs a bit of work done to it to make it optimal for the server and website to run on. It will likely take me between 1 and 2 days to complete all the required tasks.

For this reason I am scheduling server maintenance for Sunday 12th July and Monday 13th July.

During this time the server will not be available and the website will likely be up at some times and down at others.

As you may have noticed, @slugdug and I haven't been as active over the last few weeks - many apologies for this, we are finishing our A2 exams (I think equivalent to your 12th grade finals for you US lot). In the next 2 weeks we will be back and looking to continue developments on the server. Now this is where you come in...

We want to add new features, create new servers and make Octopia more enjoyable for everyone but we need to know what you want. So, if you have any suggestions or ideas for features we can add to Octopia, any ideas for servers we could introduce or anything else, tell us!

Head on over to the Suggestions forum area and create a new thread for each of your suggestions (this allows us to reply to each one). Be sure to add a poll onto your post so other users can vote the suggestion up or down. Limit the poll to just a "Yes" or "No" answer to make it easier for us to interpret.

The server recently hasn't been working, you will have noticed that you could not move or do anything at all. It was due to a conflict in Towny config files (thank you for the help on the forums), which have been resolved now.
Feel free to come back and start playing again.

As many of you have noticed we have been working with a reduced staffing team for s few weeks now. I am now opening staff applications so we can replenish the staffing team.

It's the 3 year anniversary of Octopia today. I have been rather busy and I almost forgot about it! Normally I have a few goodies being given out and events but this year the other owners and I are extremely busy at present. I am postponing any events for a couple of months until we are all free again to get back on the server.

Thanks everyone for sticking with us and I hope to see you all stick around!
